Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Registration based on Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results can be completed online via e-Devlet or in person. However, those who have not yet graduated from high school or those who are required to register with a medical report must register in person at the relevant desks on the specified registration dates.

To freeze your registration, you must submit a petition stating your valid reason along with any supporting documents (if available) to your registered academic unit before the start of the academic semester specified in the academic calendar. Your request will be finalized upon the approval of the relevant unit's administrative board in accordance with university regulations.
COURSE REGISTRATION

Course registration processes at our university are carried out through the Student Information System (UBYS) within the dates announced in our Academic Calendar (Click here for the Academic Calendar). All students are personally responsible for completing and approving their course registrations. You can access all your information, such as exam results, course schedules, and exam dates, via the student information system. (Click here for a sample course registration video).

Starting from the end of the second semester, associate and undergraduate students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.80 at the end of each semester can register for a maximum of 30 ECTS credits in the following semester. Associate and undergraduate students whose CGPA is 1.80 or above at the end of each semester can register for a maximum of 45 ECTS credits in the following semester.
TUITION & FEES

You can check your contribution/tuition fees on the Student Information Screen under the "Other" menu at ubys.bandirma.edu.tr. You can also access this information on our website under the "Student / Tuition Fees" section.
HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL TRANSFERS

Horizontal transfer applications to our university are accepted online. The application dates, which are determined anew each term by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), are announced on our official website along with all the necessary details.

Horizontal transfers cannot be made to the preparatory (prep) class of associate and undergraduate diploma programs; to the first and last semesters of associate degree programs; and to the first two or final two semesters of undergraduate degree programs.

Horizontal transfer via Additional Article-1 (Ek Madde-1) allows you to transfer to programs at universities whose base score was equal to or lower than your central YKS placement score in the year you registered. On the other hand, transfer via GPA (Not Ortalaması) allows you to transfer between equivalent diploma programs at the same level based purely on your academic grade point average success.

For transfers based on Central Placement Score (Additional Article-1), applicants are ranked from highest to lowest according to their YKS score from their original enrollment year within the quota limits. For transfers based on GPA, evaluation is conducted by calculating 40% of the YKS placement score and 60% of the CGPA, and candidates are ranked based on the final calculated total score.

In accordance with our University's Directive on Exemption and Adaptation Procedures, you generally start your education at the 3rd-grade level. Your course adaptations are processed according to the provisions of the same directive to determine the specific courses you still need to complete.
DOCUMENT REQUESTS

You can request and download digitally signed copies of all documents like student certificates, transcripts, and disciplinary records directly from the "Document Requests" section within the Student Information System (UBYS). Additionally, you can also obtain official barcoded student certificates and transcripts via the e-Devlet system.

You can view detailed course contents via the Bologna Process (UBYS) link found under the "Student" tab on our university homepage. From there, select your respective academic unit followed by your specific degree program.

In case of loss or required replacement of your student ID card, you must deposit 250 TL into the designated account of our University's Strategy Development Department below and apply to the student affairs office of your registered unit with the receipt.

MAXIMUM STUDY DURATION

Excluding one year for the foreign language preparatory class, students who fail to successfully graduate within a maximum of four years for 2-year programs, seven years for 4-year programs, and nine years for 6-year programs (regardless of whether they register for each consecutive semester or not, starting from the semester courses are offered) are considered to have reached their maximum duration limit. You can access your distance learning classes through the "My Live Courses" (Canlı Derslerim) option under the Student Information Screen menu in the UBYS dashboard.
PREPARATORY CLASS PROCEDURES

EXEMPTION EXAMS

Information regarding exemption exams for Foreign Language, Turkish Language, and Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution can be tracked via the announcements panel of your specific Faculty/Vocational School or on the main University announcements board.
COURSES & EXAMS

In accordance with the relevant articles of our University's Rules and Regulations for Undergraduate and Associate Degree Education and Exams, newly enrolled students can apply for course exemptions by submitting a petition alongside an approved transcript and detailed course syllabi to their respective unit within the first ten working days of their first academic semester.

Yes. Students who fail to attend more than 30% of theoretical lecture hours or more than 20% of practical/laboratory sessions will not be eligible to take the final exam for that course. Check the directives by clicking here.

Students who fail after final exams (receiving an FF grade), students who have a passing letter grade other than AA but wish to raise their score, or students who were eligible to take the final exam but did not attend can sit for the makeup exams. Relevant regulations can be read here.

Excuse exams for midterm (vize) exams are organized in accordance with the provisions of our University's Student Medical Reports Directive (Justifiable and Valid Grounds for Student Excuses). For final exams, no separate excuse exams are held; makeup (bütünleme) exams officially serve as the excuse track.

If justifiable and valid reasons approved by the Senate occur, decisions are taken by the relevant administrative board. For the excuse to be officially accepted, applications along with proof documents must be submitted to the respective dean's office or vocational school directorate within five working days following the end of the excuse period. Objections to grades must be made in writing via a physical application to the administration of the relevant faculty, school, or vocational school within three working days following the official publication of the exam results.
DOUBLE MAJOR & MINOR PROCEDURES

Yes, you can apply for double major and minor tracks during the application windows announced at the beginning of each semester. Read the Double Major Directive or check the Minor Program Directive for exact criteria.
SUMMER SCHOOL

You can select courses up to a total of 16 credits during Summer School. For the up-to-date directive, please click here.

You can enroll in the specific classes that are officially published on the dates indicated in the Academic Calendar.
GRADUATION & DIPLOMA PROCEDURES

The graduation files of students who have successfully passed all courses in their curriculum and completed mandatory internships (if any) are evaluated by the relevant commissions and boards of their academic units. Upon approval by the unit's administrative board, the data is reported to our Student Affairs Department for diploma printing. Diplomas are printed and safely delivered back to your respective academic unit within one month after the approval notification reaches us.

Students who lose their original Diploma or Diploma Supplement must apply to the student affairs desk of their unit with a personal petition, a photocopy of their ID, a newspaper loss announcement, and a payment receipt showing that 500 TL has been paid to the university bank details below:

The diploma and its supplements can be collected in person by the graduate upon returning their student ID card (students who lost their ID card can apply with a loss announcement). In compulsory circumstances, diplomas may be issued to a proxy holding an official power of attorney issued by a Notary Public. The diploma of a deceased student may be handed over to their legal heirs upon formal request.
GRADUATE PROGRAMS (POSTGRADUATE)

Applications for Master's (MA/MSc) and Doctoral (PhD) programs are opened every term. Admission prerequisites, specific application periods, and requirements are published on our portals well in advance. You can access extensive details via the Institute of Graduate Studies link.
DEREGISTRATION (LEAVING THE UNIVERSITY)

To deregister via a personal in-person application, you can visit the student affairs office of your academic unit with your student ID card and submit a signed petition explicitly declaring your decision to withdraw.
