Information Text on the MÜDEK Accreditation Process
This information text has been prepared by the Department of Computer Engineering at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University in order to inform students and academic staff about the MÜDEK accreditation process.
As the Department of Computer Engineering, we attach great importance to the MÜDEK accreditation process in order to enhance the quality of engineering education, meet national and international quality assurance standards, and strengthen the culture of continuous improvement.
MÜDEK is an independent external evaluation and accreditation body that assesses whether engineering programs meet established criteria. This process includes the systematic evaluation of our department in terms of educational objectives, program outcomes, curriculum, assessment and evaluation, academic staff, infrastructure, continuous improvement, and stakeholder participation.
MÜDEK accreditation is not only the certification of the current educational quality but also involves maintaining the strengths of the department, identifying areas for improvement, and making regular improvements in these areas. Therefore, the process represents a continuous and participatory quality assurance approach.
In this context, the opinions of our students, graduates, employers, and academic staff are of great importance. Active participation in the process directly contributes to the improvement of the quality of education in our department.
Advantages of MÜDEK Accreditation for Students
MÜDEK accreditation indicates that the engineering education provided in our department meets certain quality standards. This demonstrates that the education our students receive is assured.
Graduating from an accredited program contributes to our graduates being more visible and preferred in the job market. Employers recognize that accredited programs offer systematic and outcome-based education.
The MÜDEK process ensures that course contents, laboratory facilities, applications, and assessment-evaluation processes are regularly reviewed. Thus, students receive a more up-to-date, structured, and strong engineering education.
Accreditation also provides significant support in terms of international recognition. This can be an important advantage for our students in their international education and career plans.
Responsibilities of Students in the MÜDEK Process
Students are expected to regularly share their opinions about courses, laboratories, advising processes, and departmental facilities through surveys and feedback tools.
Regular participation in courses, practices, and departmental activities is important both for individual development and for monitoring program outcomes.
Students are expected to develop awareness of program outcomes and educational objectives and to consciously follow courses and activities aligned with these outcomes.
Academic integrity and adherence to ethical principles are fundamental elements of engineering education. Therefore, it is of great importance that students act in accordance with ethical principles.
Contributions of the MÜDEK Process to Academic Staff
The MÜDEK process ensures that course contents, teaching methods, and assessment-evaluation practices are reviewed regularly. Thus, a more effective and outcome-based teaching approach is developed.
Through the continuous improvement approach, academic staff can more systematically monitor strengths and areas that need improvement at both course and program levels.
Increasing the visibility of the department contributes to attracting qualified students and stakeholders and supports academic reputation.
Expectations from Academic Staff in the MÜDEK Process
Course contents are expected to be updated in line with developments in the field of engineering and structured in accordance with program outcomes.
It is important to clearly establish the relationship between course learning outcomes and program outcomes and to support this relationship through assessment and evaluation processes.
It is expected that student, graduate, and employer feedback will be taken into account and that improvements will be made at the course, application, and departmental levels accordingly.
Active participation in accreditation and quality assurance activities and contribution to continuous improvement processes carried out by the department are required.
