5 Our Team Ranked Third in Turkey in the Smart Road Safety Competition with TEKNOFEST 2026 5G & Artificial Intelligence

Our 5Genç team, made up of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, placed third in Türkiye in the Associate, Undergraduate and Graduate category of the 5G & Artificial Intelligence for Smart Road Safety Competition, organized by Turkcell within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2026.

Held for the first time this year, the competition received applications from 1,240 teams and 2,973 students representing 202 universities; 20 teams that successfully completed the evaluation stages advanced to the final. In the final stage, held on 8–9 August 2026 at the ITU Ayazağa Campus, teams presented to the jury their mobile applications, which analyze live camera feeds transmitted over the 5G network with artificial intelligence algorithms to detect threats to road safety, in on-road driving tests conducted with Togg, Türkiye's domestic automobile.

In the final rankings announced on 15 September 2026, our 5Genç team ranked third among 1,240 teams and won a cash prize of 125,000 TL.
