About the Program

Date of Establishment

The program was approved by the Council of Higher Education on February 1, 2023, and began accepting students in the Fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Degree Awarded

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a "Master's Degree in Software Engineering".

Degree Level: Master's with Thesis

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Students who successfully complete the program can apply to doctoral programs, provided they obtain a valid score from the ALES exam and possess sufficient foreign language proficiency.

Application Requirements

Candidates who meet the following requirements can apply to the program:

Bachelor's Degree

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering
  • Other bachelor's degree fields specified in the relevant period's announcement

Academic Achievement

  • Minimum 2.50/4.00 graduation grade point average
  • ALES at least 55 points (Quantitative)

Required Documents

  • Bachelor's diploma or graduation certificate
  • Transcript (grade report)
  • ALES/YDS/YÖKDİL result document
  • Copy of ID card
  • 2 passport-sized photographs

Admission and Evaluation

Applications are evaluated according to the following criteria:

Evaluation Criterion Weight Minimum Score Notes
ALES (Quantitative) 50% 55 Must be obtained within the last 5 years
Bachelor's GPA 20% 2.50 At least 2.50 on a 4.00 scale or equivalent
Foreign Language Score 10% * YDS, YÖKDİL or equivalent (determined by Senate decision)
The score of candidates without a foreign language score is considered 0
Interview and/or Written Exam 20% 30 Conducted online or face-to-face
Candidates scoring below 30 are excluded from evaluation
IMPORTANT:
  • To be admitted to master's programs with thesis, the admission score must be at least 65.
  • The Council of Higher Education grade conversion table is applied for candidates graduating from different grading systems.
  • In case of equal admission scores, the priority order is: ALES score → graduation GPA → interview score → foreign language score

Graduation Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled to graduate from the program:

Course Load

  • At least 7 courses (21-30 credits)
  • 1 seminar course
  • Total of 60 ECTS from courses
  • Successful completion of all courses

Thesis Work

  • Thesis advisor appointment (by the end of the 1st semester)
  • Thesis topic determination (by the end of the 2nd semester)
  • Thesis work: 60 ECTS
  • Thesis defense examination

Other Conditions

  • Completion of a total of 120 ECTS
  • Completion of the program within a maximum of 6 semesters (3 years)
  • Fulfillment of publication and/or project requirements
  • Submission of bound copies of the thesis

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Students who fail to complete their courses within 4 semesters (2 years) will be dismissed.
  • The thesis jury consists of 3-5 faculty members (at least 1 from outside the university).
  • The thesis defense examination is conducted within 45-90 minutes.
  • All conditions determined by the Senate must be met for graduation.
